Brazos Watershed Alliance Presentation and Groundwater Well Contestation

Why We Must Act Now to Protect the Upper Trinity Groundwater, water is the life of our community. It sustains our homes, our local businesses, our wildlife, and the future of the place we call home. But right now, our shared water supply faces a significant threat—and we need your voice to help protect it.
The Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District is currently reviewing a major permit application submitted by (Pacifico Energy) Pacifico Spunky LLC (use Permit ID 116-H).
If approved, this permit could allow massive amounts of groundwater to be pumped from our local (Trinity) aquifer. We believe this level of extraction poses an immediate risk to our water table, our private wells, and the long-term ecological balance of our region.
That is why our nonprofit is stepping up to formally contest this application. But we cannot do it alone, which is why our organisation has been out collecting signatures to accompany our Contestation letter to the Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District.
Why Formal Contestation Matters
Filing a protest against a groundwater permit isn't just about showing disapproval; it is a formal regulatory process. The Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District is bound by law to consider public impact, aquifer longevity, and the rights of existing landowners.
By signing our collective petition and submitting individualized protest letters, we ensure that:
-Our Concerns Are Documented: Every letter and signature becomes part of the official public record for the Pacifico permit application.
-We Demand Transparency: We are asking for rigorous independent impact studies before any use or expanded pumping is permitted.
-Fighting To Protect Existing Well owners: Lowering the water table impacts everyone nearby.
We are standing up for property owners who rely on steady, clean well water.
We have a duty to safeguard our groundwater for the generations that will follow us.
Let’s make sure the Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District hears us loud and clear.
Below is information regarding the attorney the Brazos Watershed Alliance has retained to represent us in this contested here process, as well as the projects slated to build across the Brazos River a mere 4,000 ft from Pecan Plantation and Abbybend residents.
